He illustrated the technology convergence issue and how video, 
telephony, etc is converging to IP. He also talked about ring network, 
how it is efficient for self-healing. He talked about SIP and showed 
the difference between connection and session. He talked about twisted-
pair protocol like RTP and RTCP. He told how depending on RTCP feedback 
how RTP can use lossy codec.

He talked about PSTN and gatewaying to converge to IP. He talked about 
traffic analysis and why it has been important over the years. He 
showed some of Bell Labs current research.

I read this article, "Traffic Modeling and Resource Allocation in Call 
Center" and I also took a look at the reference "Bell Labs internet 
Traffic Research"
